The University of Brighton Language Institute (UBLI) provides a comprehensive range of English for Academic Purposes pre-sessional language programmes for students who need to improve their language skills before starting their UK degree. Based at our Falmer campus in the city of Brighton and Hove, you will be part of a thriving university community of around 21,000 students, including almost 3,000 from more than 150 countries outside the UK. The UBLI has been ranked as the number one university language centre for English language teaching by the EL Gazette. All of our English language programmes are accredited by the British Council and are delivered by highly experienced and qualified English language teachers and examiners of English for Academic Purposes (EAP). The UBLI has a reputation for delivering innovative English language programmes including the following pre-sessional programmes in English for Academic Purposes that will prepare you for successful degree study in the UK at undergraduate or postgraduate level. The English for Academic Study Programme can also prepare you for the IELTS test and can be taken independently as a general language course. Successful completion of the final stage of this programme will allow you progression to a University of Brighton degree course. Summer Pre-sessional English and Extended Masters (EMA) are intensive courses that can be taken in the summer before starting your degree course. EMA is an intensive English pre-sessional programme within your chosen specific academic field that will help you to build up academic vocabulary relating to your subject, while also improving your academic and language skills.
